About the RoleMorgan McKinley is partnering with a key client in the logistics and freight-forwarding sector to recruit an Ocean Freight Operations Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced sea freight professional to join a well-established and growing organisation, playing a critical role in the end-to-end management of ocean freight operations.The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a professional, efficient, and customer-focused ocean freight service, managing shipments from booking through to final delivery and invoicing, while maintaining strong relationships with customers, carriers, and global agents.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and process ocean freight shipment bookings for forwarding operationsOversee shipments from initial customer booking through to arrival at final destination and completion of customer paymentDeliver a consistently high level of customer service to both internal stakeholders and external customersLiaise with local and international shipping lines, vendors, and overseas agents to secure competitive rates and reliable service levelsCoordinate with transport providers regarding cargo collections and final-mile deliveriesProcess sales and purchase invoices and resolve any customer or supplier invoice queriesHandle customer rate requests and prepare accurate, timely quotationsMaintain strong awareness of customs clearance processes and documentation, including SADs and related requirementsSupport the ongoing development and continuous improvement of ocean freight servicesAdditional ResponsibilitiesProvide cover within the operations office during periods of annual leave or absenceSupport other freight departments with administrative and operational tasks as requiredAttend occasional customer visits to support relationship management and service deliveryParticipate in projects and operational improvement initiativesCarry out any additional duties assigned in line with business needsCandidate ProfileThe ideal candidate will have:Proven experience in ocean / sea freight operations within a freight forwarding or logistics environmentStrong knowledge of end-to-end forwarding processes, including booking, documentation, invoicing, and delivery coordinationGood understanding of customs clearance requirements and international trade documentationExcellent communication and customer service skillsStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneouslyA proactive, solution-focused approach with strong attention to detailAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a teamSkillsSea Freight, Customer Service, Logistics
