Quantity SurveyorDepartment: Construction/EngineeringLocation: IrelandReports To: Senior Quantity SurveyorEmployment Type: Full-Time, PermanentJob OverviewAs a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the financial and contractual elements of construction projects. This includes cost planning, budgeting, contract management, and ensuring the successful financial delivery of projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, be detail-oriented, and have a thorough understanding of the construction industry.Key ResponsibilitiesCost Estimation and BudgetingPrepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports for various stages of construction projects.Analyze project plans and specifications to ensure comprehensive cost forecasting.Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend alternative options as necessary.Contract ManagementDraft, review, and manage contracts and subcontracts to ensure terms align with project objectives.Negotiate and agree on contract terms with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.Monitor compliance with contractual terms and conditions throughout the project lifecycle.Cost Control and Variance ReportingTrack and monitor project expenses, identifying and reporting any variances from budget.Prepare regular cost reports and forecasts to update stakeholders on financial status.Implement financial controls to prevent cost overruns.Valuations and PaymentsConduct regular site visits to assess project progress and verify quantities.Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts to clients for approval.Process payments to subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring timely and accurate payment.Risk ManagementIdentify, assess, and manage financial and contractual risks associated with projects.Work closely with project teams to mitigate potential risks and resolve issues promptly.Collaboration with Project TeamsWork alongside project managers, site managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure financial objectives are met and build strong rapport.Provide financial insights and recommendations to improve project efficiency.Required Qualifications and SkillsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying or construction project management.Technical Skills: Proficiency in cost management softwareCommunication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients, suppliers, and team members.
