Job Overview
The Graduate Quantity Surveyor will play a pivotal role in cost management, procurement, measurement, and commercial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the preparation of bills of quantities, take-offs, and cost estimates for ongoing and upcoming projects.
* Support the procurement process by obtaining quotations, preparing tender comparisons, and assisting in awarding subcontract packages.
* Track and report project costs, variations, and progress, ensuring accurate and timely commercial information is provided to senior QS staff.
* Support monthly valuations, payment applications, and subcontractor payment reviews.
* Maintain and organise project documentation including drawings, financial records, change logs, and correspondence.
* Conduct site visits to measure works, assess progress, and gather information needed for commercial reporting.
* Contribute to cost forecasting, budgeting, and risk analysis alongside senior surveyors.
* Foster strong working relationships with site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to support smooth project delivery.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a closely related discipline (or completing final year).
* Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
* A willingness to learn and a proactive attitude towards developing commercial and technical skills.
* Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word (experience with QS or estimating software is an advantage).
* A solid understanding of basic construction processes and terminology (site exposure beneficial but not essential).
