About the Opportunity
Our client is a fast-growing, independent system integrator delivering large-scale automation projects across Europe.
They are expanding their European team and seeking a Project Engineer with strong PLC programming expertise (ideally with Rockwell PLC's, but open to Schneider or Siemens controllers too).
This role blends hands‑on engineering with project leadership.
You’ll design automation systems, lead small‑to‑medium technical teams, and act as the primary technical contact for clients.
For the right person, it’s also a pathway into Project Management while staying close to the technology.
The Role
Lead the technical delivery of automation projects (teams of 4‑10 engineers).
Configure and program Rockwell PLCs (ControlLogix and CompactLogix).
Work with PlantPAx and FactoryTalk where applicable; experience with Siemens, Schneider, AVEVA, or Ignition is also valuable and transferable.
Translate functional requirements into system design and configuration.
Design control system architectures and network strategies.
Select instrumentation and automation equipment.
Oversee control panel design with CAD team support.
Write and execute system test scripts to verify configuration.
Support Project Managers with scope management and change orders.
Travel across Europe (~50% annually, in structured rotations e.g. 4 weeks onsite / 1 week home).
What We’re Looking For
Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Computer, or related).
5+ years’ experience in automation engineering.
2+ years leading technical projects or project management (scope, financials, change orders).
Deep PLC knowledge – (ideally with Rockwell Controllers, but also Schneider and Siemens experience is valuable).
Fluent English (C1/C2); Dutch is a plus, not required.
EU citizenship required (for unrestricted travel/work across Europe).
