An opportunity has arisen in BAM Ireland’s office in Kill (County Kildare) for a Principal Occupational Health & Safety Advisor on a 9-month contract.
Your mission
* Role models the BAM values and behaviours.
* Lead and grow a strong health and safety culture across the segment.
* Create a culture of continuous improvement.
* Attend senior leadership meetings and events, providing specialist advice and support.
* Advise and support during significant health and safety incidents, including investigations and reporting.
* Lead interactions with external agencies during major incidents.
* Utilize feedback and management information to improve policies, systems, and processes.
* Ensure health and safety policies and procedures are properly formulated, monitored, and maintained.
* Identify opportunities for safety improvements and assist leadership in their implementation.
* Develop and review the health and safety management system in line with industry best practices.
* Ensure all accidents and near misses are reported and investigated according to company policy.
* Perform the functions of a matrix manager.
* Perform other relevant duties as required.
* Deputize for the Director of Occupational Health and Safety as needed.
* Assist in compiling OHS reports.
Who are we looking for?
* A degree or diploma in occupational health and safety.
* Chartered/Certified Membership of IOSH.
* Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET/PTLLS).
* Management experience on a construction site or FM facility.
* Excellent communication skills at all organizational levels.
* Ability to deliver health and safety training.
* Experience leading major incident investigations.
* Thorough knowledge of OHSAS 45001 standards.
* Strong organizational and motivational skills.
