Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to lead and develop a specialist Neuro Rehabilitation / Acquired Brain Injury service. The successful candidate will have full operational and clinical responsibility for a 14-bed specialist unit, including bed management, staffing, and clinical governance, with a key role in future service expansion to a new 40-bed unit.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated clinical leader to help shape and grow a developing neurorehabilitation service.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical and operational leadership for the Neuro Rehabilitation / ABI unit
Maintain responsibility for bed management, admissions, and patient flow
Ensure delivery of high-quality, person-centred neurorehabilitation care
Lead and support multidisciplinary team collaboration
Oversee clinical governance, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance
Support staff development, supervision, and training
Contribute to strategic development and expansion of the service, including planning for the future 40-bed unit
Promote best practice in complex neurological and rehabilitation care
Candidate Requirements
Registered Nurse with active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or eligibility for registration
Previous management or senior clinical leadership experience
Clinical experience in Acquired Brain Injury, Neuro Rehabilitation, or complex care
Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
Experience managing complex patient needs and multidisciplinary teams
Desirable
Brain Injury Specialist qualification or equivalent postgraduate qualification in neurological / rehabilitation care
Experience in service development or unit expansion
