Project Officer (2 positions)

Position Status : Closed

This Is An Exciting Opportunity For The Right Candidates To Join The Conservation Team Of BirdWatch Ireland, The Largest Independent Environmental Conservation Organisation In Ireland. There Are Two Project Officer Positions Available, As Follows

* Project Officer: Surveys & Monitoring Team (full-time)
* Project Officer: Dublin Bay Birds Project (full-time)

The successful candidates will work on some of Ireland's best-known and important surveys and monitoring programmes. The positions offer an exciting mix of scientific analysis, reporting, fieldwork, and outreach.

Key responsibilities and duties for the two positions will include:

* Working with the conservation team on scientific analyses and reporting;
* Carrying out fieldwork, particularly for waterbirds;
* Collation, management and validation of some of the most important ornithological datasets in Ireland;
* Management of online data entry systems and providing support to the team on data validation; and
* Contributing content to project web pages and social media channels.

The ideal candidates will have a degree in zoology or related discipline, or previous proven experience working on conservation projects. They will have an ability to compile data, analyse results and write reports. It is important that they have previous experience of winter waterbirds counts and breeding bird surveys according to standardised methodologies and excellent waterbird ID skills, plus an awareness of ecology and conservation issues surrounding birds in Ireland.
