Position Summary:
This position reports to the Project Engineer Team Lead or Engineering Manager. The Project Engineer designs, specifies and commissions new and renovated biopharmaceutical process and clean utility equipment, provides engineering support and leads deviation investigations for equipment and manufacturing processes. As Project Engineer, you will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager in achieving or exceeding project operating income, project execution plan, and customer satisfaction goals.
Responsibilities:
1. Work effectively in a professional, team-based office environment, meeting customer-focused commitments driven by deadlines.
2. Keep Project Manager(s), Project Team Members, and Departmental Management updated on workload progress, needs, and project status regularly.
3. Identify scope of supply changes impacting project costs.
4. Serve as the technical contact for customers on assigned projects.
5. Support Project Manager activities on an as-needed basis or when the Project Manager is unavailable.
6. Meet departmental Goals, Objectives, and Metric-based improvement initiatives.
7. Review, generate, and understand customer specifications, requirements, and proposals.
8. Analyze customer specifications in relation to company offerings, scope, and commercial terms.
9. Maintain contract files following company procedures.
10. Assist Company Designers with engineering deliverables, ensuring customer expectations for equipment form, fit, and function are met.
11. Support creation and approval of engineering/design documentation (e.g., P+ID's, GA's, drawings, BOMs).
12. Perform calculations for equipment verification and sizing.
13. Prepare specifications and equipment data sheets.
14. Participate in design verification and review activities.
15. Review and approve Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) ensuring accuracy before release.
16. Collaborate with Automation and Electrical Engineering teams on related deliverables.
17. Review customer requirements with automation resources and approve related documentation (FRS, DDS).
18. Support manufacturing and quality resources in fabrication, assembly, and qualification processes.
19. Act as the technical contact during fabrication and quality verification phases.
20. Conduct or supervise Pre-FAT, FAT, and SAT activities domestically and internationally.
21. Develop test plans and seek customer approval.
22. Generate IQ/OQ documentation as needed.
23. Contribute to the development of engineering standards and procedures.
24. Participate in process improvement initiatives and cost reduction efforts.
25. Travel to customer sites as required.
26. Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Honours BSc or BEng (Level 8) in Mechanical, Biological, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
* Minimum 3 years postgraduate engineering experience in related industry.
* Preferred 5 years experience in Biopharma or Piping systems market, including manufacturing and testing of custom equipment.
* Optional: 2+ years supporting automation and control systems engineering related to bioprocesses.
