Job Title:Library Assistant - Reader Services (Maternity Cover)Department:IR0015 LibraryReporting to:Academic Support SpecialistThe Library Assistant is a student-facing, teaching, and instructional role. The role involves duties on the reference desk five days per week during core service hours and providing in-person and online academic support services to students, as well as producing online content for the Library website. This role extends the services beyond the confines of the physical library and is instrumental in providing access to support for students who may be remote or working or facing other challenges with accessing the campus during Library opening hours. Fixed term contract. Maternity leave cover.Job DescriptionProviding excellent Reference services both on-campus and remotelyProviding Circulation services including managing library accounts, processing payments, maintaining statistics, shelving, stocktaking, etc.Assisting students, faculty, and staff with their queriesProducing and maintaining relevant guides, literature, webpages and Moodle contentAssisting other teams with relevant projectsCommunicating with relevant stakeholders regarding service changes and enhancements Complete any other tasks as requested by the Library Leadership TeamRequirementsExcellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skillsAvailability to work evening shifts and weekend hours as requiredDesirablePrevious experience working in Reader ServicesStrong IT skills to support student success in a hybrid learning environmentThis job description is a guide to the work the post holders will initially be required to undertake.
