Letterkenny University Hospital is an acute general and maternity hospital delivering a patient-centred, quality-driven service along with a wide range of diagnostic and support services. Description
The person holding this post is required to support the principle that the care of the patient comes first at all times and will approach their work with the flexibility and enthusiasm necessary to make this principle a reality for every patient to the greatest possible degree.
Maintain awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all hospital activities.
Participate in the Group’s performance management programme.
Service needs may require movement of the Multi-Task Attendant between wards, departments, or relief duties as directed, depending on the individual needs of the care setting.
The principal duties of a Multi-Task Attendant include, but are not limited to:
* Observing hospital policies on discretion and confidentiality regarding patients, families, and colleagues.
* Assisting professionals and colleagues in promoting a cheerful, pleasant environment.
* Keeping units clean and tidy.
* Reporting incidents and accidents involving patients, staff, and visitors.
* Reporting faulty or broken equipment urgently.
* Supporting and assisting patients/clients with dignity, courtesy, and professionalism.
* Acting as an advocate for patients/clients as appropriate.
* Contributing to a quality service in line with policies and regulations.
* Maintaining personal and general hygiene according to policies.
* Carrying out delegated responsibilities involving direct care and activities of daily living under supervision.
* Attending to patients' needs, including moving, handling, and fitting equipment.
* Transporting patients, medical charts, and products as directed.
* Carrying a bleep and being contactable during duty hours.
* Reporting equipment faults and ensuring safe storage of equipment.
* Providing security cover when required.
Health & Safety
The Multi-Task Attendant will adhere to all health and safety policies, report incidents, attend relevant training, and conduct themselves to ensure safe patient care.
Education & Training
Participation in induction, mandatory training, team development, appraisals, and personal development planning is required.
Administrative Duties
Attend staff meetings, contribute to documentation updates, and comply with uniform and hygiene requirements.
Additional Conditions
Movement between roles may be required; the role involves working evening, night, and weekend shifts, and may be subject to future restructuring.
Employees must attend fire safety training, report accidents, adhere to infection control policies, and comply with safety regulations and policies including no smoking within hospital premises.

Responsibility for these areas involves familiarization with policies, compliance, reporting issues, and cooperating with management and training.
