About Screen Producers Ireland

Screen Producers Ireland (SPI) is a national representative organisation of independent film, television, animation and digital production companies. With over 230 company members, SPI is recognised as the voice of independent audio-visual (AV) production in Ireland.

SPI members are creative entrepreneurs who produce globally celebrated film, animation and TV, creating high-value all-island and regionally spread employment, fostering Ireland's culture on screen along with preserving Ireland's artistic heritage. SPI comprises a range of production companies, from emerging producers to producers of large-scale high-end film and TV series, working in both the Irish and English language.

Role purpose:

· Working closely with the Director of Strategic Policy, the Policy Executive's work will underpin and inform the strategic interventions of Screen Producers Ireland as it seeks to develop the Irish Independent Production Sector across the island of Ireland.

· Develop, grow and sustain key relationships with Oireachtas members.

· Develop and grow relationships with producer members to understand the needs of the sector.

· Track thematic issues across all aspects of the Oireachtas and provide written updates

· Draft Governmental and regulatory policy submissions and position papers.

· Gather and analyse key sectoral data, policy and trends and provide an assessment of these across the AV sector to the SPI team and members.

· Provide SPI with research support in all aspects of its membership service.

· Engage with key governmental and regulatory bodies on data gathering, research analysis and policy papers.

Key roles, responsibilities and accountabilities:

· Prepare study reports, memoranda, briefs, testimonies, or other written materials to inform the management of SPI and its Board.

· Support the development of legislative recommendations related to sectoral development and possible initiatives.

· Propose new or modified policies related to the activities of the SPI members and their individual genres.

· Attend meetings with key stakeholders and industry events when needed.

· Working with internal SPI member committees to provide project support as required.

· Analyse and distil emerging trends to inform legislators, regulatory agencies, or other stakeholders.

· Speaking directly with members to ensure SPI policy is reflective of what the independent sector needs to reach its potential.

· Build sectoral research resources, primarily through the website, which includes all the relevant policy documents required for members.

· Prepare material for submission to the Board and Committees of SPI and make formal presentations as needed.

· Working with the team and in particular the Manager, Membership, Events and Services to engage with members on researching developments internationally.

Knowledge & Skills

· A third-level qualification in policy, political communication or similar.

· years + working in a policy development role.

· Strong oral and written communications skills.

· Excellent self-management and organisational skills.

· Excellent research and analytical skills and attention to detail.

· Proven track record of policy development and an understanding of how the Oireachtas legislative and lobbying environment works.

· Proven ability to produce high quality policy submissions and understanding of how Governmental / Regulatory consultations operate.

· Fluency in Irish Language desirable but not essential.

· Experience with AI related policy development.

· Experience engaging with EU institutions/policy.

Location:
Your normal place of work is at SPI Offices located in Dublin City and is accessible via public transport. This role will include hybrid/working from home element.

Screen Producers Ireland require you to join their team on a 3-year Fixed Purpose Contract with view to further extension. This is a full-time role.
