Career Opportunity: Resettlement Worker for Young People
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Resettlement Worker, specializing in supporting young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The primary objective of this role is to provide a structured and practical support service within the Homeless Action Team, focusing on identifying pathways into long-term suitable accommodation for predominantly young people in homeless accommodation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide assessments and advice to individuals who are homeless.
2. Participate in the Homeless Action Team as necessary.
3. Assist clients in sourcing suitable private rented accommodation.
4. Work with clients placed in emergency facilities to secure long-term accommodation and minimize continued placement in emergency facilities.
5. Help clients settle into their new accommodations and ensure they are aware of available services from external agencies.
6. Act upon referrals submitted via the interdisciplinary referral protocol.
7. Support eligible clients in applying for social housing and provide information and assistance throughout the process.
8. Investigate cases thoroughly on behalf of Limerick City and County Council.
9. Maintain links with other authorities, Gardaí, CWOs, and relevant community groups.
10. Enhance access to health and social services for those experiencing homelessness.
11. Keep accurate records of client files and caseloads.
12. Provide monthly reports on caseloads and move-on plans to the Coordinator.
13. Foster a client-centered approach, encouraging autonomy and independence.
14. Establish relationships with local services and community groups where appropriate and work closely with housing providers.
15. Manage an allocated caseload and adhere to Care and Case Management processes and protocols.
16. Address concerns related to child protection and welfare appropriately.
17. Collaborate effectively with personnel in Limerick City and County Council in relation to organizational procedures and policies.
18. Work under the supervision of line management and engage in regular supervision sessions.
19. Comply with relevant Limerick City and County Council policies, including Child Protection Policy, Confidentiality Policy, Customer Complaints Policy, Health and Safety Policy, Personnel Policy.
20. Maintain accurate records and statistics in accordance with Limerick City and County Council policy.
21. Be vigilant to Health, Safety, and Welfare risks in the workplace and report concerns to the line manager or Health & Safety Representative.
22. Attend Team, Section, and Agency meetings as required.
23. Participate in relevant training and development courses as agreed with the Coordinator Homeless Services.
24. Perform other duties reasonably assigned by the Coordinator Homeless Services.
Requirements:
* A degree-level qualification in a relevant field, such as social care, psychology, sociology.
* Experience working in a social care setting.
* Experience working with young people aged 18-23.
* Experience dealing with child protection and welfare responsibilities and responding appropriately to concerns.
* Experience conducting assessments, including risk assessments.
* Ability to develop support plans and carry out reviews.
* Ability to manage challenging behavior.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Flexibility in the role.
* Full clean driver's license with access to a car.
* Advocacy experience for similar client groups (desirable).
* Report writing skills (desirable).
* Information Technology skills (desirable).
