Unijobs on behalf of our public sector client have a requirement for an IT Systems Administrator in Dublin 18 (fully onsite). The duration of this post is 6 months initially with likely extensions thereafter. Working 35 hours per week, the successful candidate will be employed as an agency employee and will be paid an hourly rate of €32.86 per hour based on an annualised salary of €60,013. You will accrue 30 days annual leave per year and paid Bank Holidays. Purpose of the Position: As a key technical leader within the Information Management & Technology (IM&T) team, the IT Systems Administrator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the ICT systems and infrastructure. This role also involves managing the IT operations team to ensure seamless and efficient service delivery. The IT Systems Administrator will work under the IM&T Operations Manager, collaborating closely with them while engaging with managers, staff, and end-users. Additionally, this role requires effective communication with external agencies to support and enhance our ICT capabilities. Key Responsibilities: Manage and supervise the IT operations team on a day-to-day basis. Ensure the smooth operation and maintenance of ICT systems and infrastructure. Perform Patch Management to keep systems up-to-date and secure. Manage VMware environments for virtualisation needs. Oversee Microsoft Server Management to ensure optimal performance. Handle Firewall management to maintain network security. Manage networking tasks, including Aruba WiFi management. Provide Mobile Device (MD) management to support staff. Supervise the Support Desk to ensure timely resolution of issues. Liaise with stakeholders to address and resolve ICT-related concerns. Coordinate with external agencies to support ICT initiatives and projects. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and emerging technologies. Desirable Competencies: Extensive experience in managing and deploying patches across various systems to ensure security and compliance. Proficiency in managing a service desk, overseeing ticketing systems, ensuring timely resolution of issues, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. Familiarity with ITIL practices is beneficial. Strong leadership skills to manage the day-to-day operations of the IT team, including coordinating tasks, monitoring performance, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Expertise in VMware for managing virtual environments, including configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting VMware infrastructure. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Server, including managing server roles, configurations, and security settings. Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management. Solid experience with Linux systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance. Familiarity with scripting and automation tools for Linux environments. Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, including configuring firewall rules, managing security policies, and monitoring network traffic. Experience with Aruba WiFi solutions and ClearPass for network access control, including configuring wireless networks and managing user authentication. Proficiency in Mobile Device Management (MDM), including deploying and managing MDM solutions to secure and monitor mobile devices. Additional Routine Tasks: Ensuring regular backups and replication of data using VEEAM to prevent loss and facilitate recovery. Managing user accounts, permissions, and group policies through Windows Active Directory Configuration & Maintenance. Overseeing the administration of Microsoft 365 services. Configuring and troubleshooting network issues with knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NPS. Monitoring system performance and network health using tools like PRTG. Creating and deploying operating system images for new and existing devices. Implementing and managing document workflow solutions to streamline processes. Promoting and enforcing cyber security best practices within the organisation. Deploying and managing security measures for endpoints, including encryption. Ensuring timely renewal and management of security certificates. Coordinating and overseeing remote access for vendors. Working with external support teams to resolve escalated issues.
