Job Type: Permanent

The Role
The Network Security Lead will be accountable for the ownership, design, and effectiveness of network security controls across the organisation. They will provide security architecture assurance to ensure network designs align with security standards, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
The lead will also be responsible for identification and implementation of operational security improvements, driving resilience, threat reduction, and continuous improvement across network services. Collaborates with infrastructure, architecture, and risk teams to embed security by design, oversee control performance, and respond to emerging threats and vulnerabilities within the network estate.
Key Responsibilities

Own hybrid network security controls across cloud and on‑prem environments, including firewalls, segmentation, secure connectivity, DDoS protection, WAF, and remote access.
Provide security architecture assurance for cloud connectivity and network designs, ensuring strong segmentation and secure-by-design patterns for aviation and corporate systems.
Embed Zero Trust networking principles, enforcing identity‑aware access, least privilege, and consistent policy controls across cloud and hybrid environments.
Drive operational security and resilience improvements, reducing attack surface, improving configuration hygiene, and strengthening availability for business‑critical aviation services.
Ensure effective network security monitoring and detection, integrating cloud and on‑prem telemetry into SIEM/SOAR and maintaining relevant detection use cases.
Lead vulnerability and exposure management for network infrastructure and cloud network services, prioritising remediation and managing risk acceptance where required.
Support network‑related security incidents, leading containment and recovery activities, performing root cause analysis, and driving post‑incident improvements.
Govern supplier and partner network security, assuring secure integrations across the aviation ecosystem and supporting audit, risk, and compliance requirements.

Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

Extensive experience in cybersecurity or network security, with at least 4+ years in a lead or senior role focused on designing, governing, and operating enterprise network security controls across cloud and hybrid environments (e.g. firewalls, segmentation, secure connectivity, WAF, DDoS protection)
Senior network security professional with strong experience across cloud (AWS/Azure) and hybrid environments, owning network security controls end‑to‑end in complex, regulated enterprises.
Proven track record in security architecture assurance, delivering secure‑by‑design network solutions with effective segmentation, resilience, and alignment to organisational risk appetite.
Deep understanding of cloud‑native networking and security (VPC/VNet design, private connectivity, WAF, DDoS protection, Zero Trust/SASE), including high‑availability and mission‑critical services.
Operationally focused leader who drives continuous improvement, reduces attack surface, and improves control effectiveness through automation, standardisation, and control tuning.
Strong incident response and problem‑solving capability, acting as escalation lead for network‑related security incidents and translating lessons learned into lasting control improvements.
Experienced stakeholder and supplier manager, comfortable engaging architecture boards, infrastructure teams, third parties, and regulators within complex aviation ecosystems.
Risk‑aware and compliance‑driven, with experience supporting audits and frameworks, producing clear security assurances, metrics, and evidence for governance and decision‑making
Relevant network security certifications (e.g. CCNP Security, CISSP, CCSP, Azure Network Engineer Associate, AWS Advanced Networking – Specialty).
Experience designing, implementing, and operating enterprise network security controls including firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF, DDoS protection, VPNs, and network segmentation.
Strong knowledge of cloud networking and cloud‑native security controls (AWS VPC / Azure VNet, routing, private endpoints, security groups, NACLs, load balancers).
Experience securing hybrid network environments spanning on‑prem infrastructure and cloud services, including private connectivity (ExpressRoute / Direct Connect).
Practical understanding of Zero Trust networking principles and modern access models (e.g. ZTNA, least‑privilege network access, identity‑aware controls).
Experience with network security monitoring and incident response, including SIEM integration, log analysis, detection use‑case development, and root cause analysis.
Knowledge of network security governance, risk, and compliance, including audit support, control assurance, and working within regulated or safety‑critical environments.
Exposure to third‑party and supplier network integrations, managing secure connectivity and shared responsibility within complex ecosystems (e.g. aviation partners)
