Job Title: Senior Automation Engineer
Department: Engineering Department
Reporting To: Head of Engineering
Sanmina Fermoy specializes in manufacturing automation, providing services throughout the product lifecycle, including NPI, prototyping, process validation, volume manufacturing, testing, shipping, and repair. Objectives of the Position
1. Expand automation capabilities to attract new revenue through cost-effective assembly options.
2. Support business development in product development.
3. Manage new product development and introduction projects.
4. Develop automation systems for new and existing products.
5. Collaborate with customers to promote automation solutions.
6. Provide technical reports, proposals, and simulations for production lines.
7. Coordinate with the Corporate Design team on product options.
8. Support customer visits and customer support teams.
9. Ensure smooth introduction of new products in high-volume production.
10. Implement Lean Manufacturing concepts.
11. Keep up-to-date with latest automation technologies and introduce them where applicable.
12. Lead automation projects from development to full production.
13. Build relationships with other sites for automation initiatives and best practices.
14. Work across departments on improvement initiatives and new business opportunities.
15. Support engineering builds and provide DFM on new product developments.
16. Assist with problem-solving and issue resolution on existing lines.
Personnel Specifications
Essential
* NFQ Level 8 Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering.
* 3-5 years experience in a similar engineering role within manufacturing or equipment build environment.
* Strong equipment knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
* Experience in Design for Manufacturing.
* Good communication and influencing skills.
* Customer-facing experience.
Desirable
* Additional skills in PLC programming, Pneumatics, Robotics, Product assembly techniques, Labeling and Laser Marking, Tooling Design.
* Six Sigma Green Belt.
* Lean practice implementation.
* Project Management Certification.
