Offer description

Our client, a leading provider of professional technical and project management services, is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works to oversee building and refurbishment projects across the Cork and Kerry region. This role is critical in ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance are met during the construction and handover phases. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a specific focus on Mechanical & Electrical coordination and Fire Safety systems. Responsibilities Work closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to review all design plans, specifications, and drawings for Mechanical & Electrical systems. Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure the scheduled and coordinated installation of M&E systems across the campus or standalone buildings. Conduct on-site and above-ceiling surveys and witness S/N testing to ensure new installations meet design, safety, and quality requirements. Compile comprehensive Handover and "As-built" documentation for all completed projects. Review and interpret M&E routing drawings (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) to ensure strict compliance with project design intent, building codes, and industry standards. Proactively identify and resolve potential conflicts between M&E systems and building structure before installation begins. Ensure all M&E designs and installations comply with local regulations, building fire compartmentalization requirements, codes, and safety standards. Oversee all on-site M&E installations to guarantee quality and adherence to specifications. Actively identify and troubleshoot potential mechanical or electrical system issues during the construction phase, implementing quick resolutions to prevent project delays. Serve as the primary point of contact for all M&E-related issues among the project team, subcontractors, and clients. Lead coordination meetings to ensure all parties are aligned on design changes, timelines, and expectations. Prepare and maintain up-to-date records and status reports on installation progress, key issues, and project milestones for the management team. Requirements Holds a recognized building/construction craft apprenticeship and possesses five years of supervisory experience on complex construction projects. Demonstrated expertise in monitoring the installation, quality, and coordination of complex Mechanical and Electrical systems, with specific proficiency in managing fire stopping and ensuring the integration of passive and active fire safety systems. Highly capable of interpreting sophisticated architectural/engineering drawings, specifications, and understanding construction contract procedures to ensure strict adherence. Dedicated to performing continuous on-site inspections, including above-ceiling surveys, to verify workmanship and materials against project standards, reporting all non-compliance directly to the Design Team. Skilled in documentation, including compiling precise reports, keeping detailed daily records, recording variations, managing remedial schedules, and gathering "As Built" documentation. Acts as the primary site liaison, effectively coordinating project flow with the Design Team, Project Manager, Subcontractors, and necessary Local Authorities. Understands and respects the lack of authority to direct contractor's methods, approve variations, or modify the design, operating strictly as a monitor and reporter for the Employer's Representative. If you are interested in this role, please apply with your most recent CV or contact Jamie on. All applications will be treated with the strictest confidence.
