Post 1197 - Medical Scientist Dublin(NBC) Post 1197 Medical Scientist Tissue Bank Full Time Permanent National Blood Centre, Jamess St., Dublin 8 The IBTS is currently recruiting a fulltime, permanent, Medical Scientist based in the Tissue Bank Department at the National Blood Centre.
Join Our National Tissue Bank Team Medical Scientist Are you a CORU registered Medical Scientist interested in tissue banking?
Join the Tissue Bank team and play a pivotal role in coordinating tissue banking activities across the country.
We are a very specialised lab.
Youll: Cryopreserve, store, and distribute human cardiovascular tissues.
Produce and supply high-quality serum eye drops.
Retrieve and evaluate human corneas.
Import and distribute various human tissues.
This position offers a unique blend of hands-on laboratory work, working with transplant teams and liaising with clinical teams on a national level.
Opportunities to become a Tissue Bank Specialist certified by the American Association of Tissue Bank is available to the successful candidate.

Please contact the tissue bank on: Essential Criteria: Candidates must have a relevant recognised primary degree in the field of Science and must have, or be eligible for, full Membership of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM) and registered with CORU.
Good working knowledge of microbiology and aseptic techniques.
Ability to work with cryogenic gases e.g.
Liquid nitrogen.
Flexible and capable of gowning and working in a Grade A/B environment.
Ability to work alone and unsupervised.
Must demonstrate flexibility to work in a demand driven environment, enthusiasm, adaptability and a willingness to co-operate High level of commitment to tasks undertaken in quality environment.
Good personal hygiene Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Desirable Criteria: Experience of working in a tissue bank and processing human tissue is desirable but not essential as full training in all duties will be provided to the successful candidate.
Experience of working in a blood establishment or a GMP facility.
Experience of working with liquid nitrogen and working in a cryogenic environment.
Experience of working in a Grade A/B environment.
Knowledge of tissue banking / transplantation is desirable.
The salary scale attached to the post is the Medical Scientist scale €43,892 to €72,938 (incl.
LSI) pro rata per annum Entry point onto the salary scale is dependent upon relevant experience.
The closing date for receipt of applications is 23.45 hrs (Irish Time) on 10th August 2025.
Interviews will take place at the National Blood Centre, Jamess St., Dublin 8.

Satisfactory evidence of being able to fulfil the essential criteria of the job as stated above is essential and must be clearly demonstrated in the application.
