About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Grid Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, socializing, and delivering our grid strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work closely with Assets teams in Ireland and the UK to develop Centrica's grid asset strategy.
* Stay up-to-date with key grid and regulatory developments, providing expert advice on consultation responses and industry lobby forums.
* Help the business interpret technical policy relating to the grid in both the UK and Ireland, identifying opportunities for existing and new grid-based projects.
* Represent Centrica on engagement with TSO & DSO and key industry bodies.
* Identify suitable opportunities for location and technology solutions on the grid.
* Work closely with other members of the Assets team to scope, assess, and negotiate the technical and commercial aspects of thermal generator/solar/Turbine/BESS Supply, EPC & related tender submissions, and contracts.
* Manage and track performance against requirements.
* Provide assumptions for value drivers of projects associated with network connection and operation costs, losses, constraint, curtailment, etc.
* Conduct due diligence on potential investment opportunities that may arise, in conjunction with SMEs from different disciplines across the business.
Requirements:
* Extensive knowledge of UK and Ireland grid connections, testing, and compliance processes.
* Experience in managing and optimizing grid connection processes at all stages, from initial site selection to construction, commissioning/testing, energization, and commercial operation.
* Strong understanding of all grid matters affecting value drivers (e.g., constraints, curtailments, firmness, TLAFs, etc.).
* Ability to work independently to deadlines, seeking guidance from other team members when required.
* Experience dealing with stakeholders on different sides of the grid connection process (TSO/DSO/Equipment Manufacturers/Electrical Contractors).
* Site feasibility assessments experience.
* Knowledge of Grid Code and requirements Bord Gais Energy must satisfy for various project types (thermal/renewable/solar/flexible demand).
* Knowledge of power markets and project value drivers is an advantage.
