Overview

The Patient Engagement Capabilities group is tasked with the strategy and execution behind Lilly clinical trial participant enrollment and retention. The group creates dynamic, patient-facing clinical trial communications focused on patient recruitment and retention and executes health literacy optimized content strategies.


Role Purpose

The Visual Communication Designer produces engaging, streamlined patient communication in graphical and multi-media formats and designs layouts for clinical trial patient-facing content. The role involves the design, development and implementation of digital content including static images and video/animation content for use across platforms and audiences, internally and externally in clinical trial communications. The Multi-Media Designer will collaborate with Health Literacy Content team and BU molecule teams to deliver dynamic content visions, anticipate problems, and integrate new processes as needed.

This fast-paced role places the successful candidate on the cutting edge of modern technology and patient communications strategy to deliver the right information to the right patient at the right time to improve the participant experience of Lilly’s clinical trial communications.


Responsibilities

* Produce patient-facing clinical trial materials in an engaging, health-literacy optimized format
* Use graphic and multimedia programs to create accurate displays of patient-focused information to help individuals decide about joining a trial and to stay informed
* Incorporate feedback into graphics and layouts
* Leverage and create templates to layout and format content
* Incorporate layout changes based on team input and feedback
* Create and deliver recording, editing, and encoding of audio files
* Create and edit a variety of digital content (static images, infographics, videos, animations, interactive pages) as defined by project owners
* Implement health-literacy best practices and contribute to future style guides for patient-facing communications
* Develop dynamic content for internal team materials and presentations
* Understand and apply visual design principles of health literacy


Operational Excellence

* Collaborate with team members to understand creative content needs of internal partners
* Coordinate permissions for assets and upload final files to asset management systems
* Establish and maintain templates to align with business standards
* Lead the development of storyboards
* Ensure documents meet project briefs and Lilly policies, including Brand Book and Design System
* Follow review processes prior to final production
* Benchmark to improve processes and recommend health-literacy templates
* Perform other document tasks as needed


Client Management

* Manage timelines and capacity across multiple time zones
* Educate teams on project status
* Anticipate, communicate and resolve project-related issues; escalate as needed
* Identify opportunities to improve processes and create new ones


Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, visual communications, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
* 3+ years of experience in medical or health media/content development
* 1-3 years of pharma or regulated industry experience
* In-depth knowledge of software design programs such as InVision, GraphPad, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and Microsoft Office
* Demonstrated experience with media authoring tools (e.g., Vyond/GoAnimate, Premiere, Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Camtasia)

* Strong attention to detail and English-language skills
* Interest in health literacy visual design
* Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
* Strong organizational skills and proficiency with graphics programs and PowerPoint
* Creative mindset and willingness to take on additional duties as needed
* Position title and level may vary by site or location
* Ability to collaborate across functions and navigate matrix organizations
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Works well under pressure and responds to feedback with a positive attitude
* Motivation to find creative solutions to challenging situations
* Ability to uphold business rules and policies constructively
