Job Purpose
Our Technical team is at the heart of our business. They are responsible for ensuring we produce high-quality and safe products for our Customers and Consumers while complying with all Legislative and Regulatory requirements for Food Processing. They aim to maintain our Quality Assurance Culture and Health and Safety Culture with all staff of O'Brien Fine Foods, which is continually reviewed for effectiveness and improvement. The key objective is to have all staff empowered and taking ownership of Quality and Health and Safety. They lead all stages of product development and delivery, including idea generation, creative development, consumer testing, customer approval, and execution.
Role Overview
As a Quality Officer within the Technical team, you will work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and team to maintain and refine the company's QA system. The shift will be a 4 on 4 off basis covering a 7-day period, from 6.00 am to 6.30 pm, including weekends and public holidays.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Learn and understand raw material specifications for all pork, beef, and white meat supplied to our site.
2. Understand key production processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
3. Conduct quality checks throughout production and address issues with operatives.
4. Perform traceability audits, raising and resolving issues.
5. Update SOPs based on observations on the production floor.
6. Support ongoing technical projects.
7. Perform administrative tasks and assist in report preparation.
8. Support all aspects of product quality, safety, and legality from supplier to customer.
9. Communicate effectively with internal departments.
10. Participate in quality audits and complete 'Lean' projects.
11. Cover for team members as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
* Fluent English speaker.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Knowledge of Food Safety and HACCP principles.
* Ability to perform under pressure with high attention to detail.
* Own transport required, based in Timahoe, Co. Kildare.
