Abbott Ireland Nutrition Division Cootehill Cavan
Abbott Nutrition produces a range of infant formulae in all pack sizes under the brand name “Similac”. The facility also manufactures follow-on formulae under the brand name “Gain”. The main ingredient is liquid skim milk, combined with carbohydrate, vegetable oils, vitamins, and minerals. The product is blended, pasteurized, dried, and packaged at the site, then distributed globally.
Established in 1975, Abbott Nutrition in Ireland is the largest powder manufacturing facility for infant formula within Abbott worldwide. It sources milk from approximately 1,000 Irish and Northern Irish farms, processing 500,000 liters daily. Ireland’s reputation for a green, clean environment is strategically important to Abbott Nutrition.
Hours of work (2-week rotational shift):
Week 1: Monday-Thursday 8am-4pm, Friday 8am-2pm
Week 2: Monday-Thursday 4pm-midnight, Friday 2pm-8pm
Primary Objectives:
* Complete production paperwork, including work order documentation.
* Review and sign off Batch Files.
* Maintain and develop the MCS system to optimize product flow and inventory.
* Implement and monitor the plant CAPA system, investigate ERs, track corrective actions, and support statistical sampling.
* Prepare for and support internal and external audits.
* Report on key Quality & Manufacturing KPIs.
* Support Business Excellence projects and CIP targets.
* Monitor performance versus plan, take corrective actions to meet targets.
* Participate in validation activities, engineering studies, and cross-functional teams.
* Manage materials and finished goods in compliance with policies.
* Support employee training and development programs.
* Ensure compliance with cGMP, safety, and hygiene standards through audits and walkabouts.
* Assist in scheduling and managing workload during shifts, ensuring production goals are met.
* Perform any additional tasks as directed by management.
Education and Experience Required:
Third-level qualification in Dairy/Food Science, Business, Engineering, or related field, with at least 2 years of technical experience in Dairy Food or Pharmaceutical industries. Manufacturing experience is essential.
