WSP’s Ireland Roads team is hiring engineering talent across Limerick (and Dublin) for a range of roles from Assistant Engineer up to Principal Engineer. Candidates will work on major national road schemes, public‑transport projects and active‑travel schemes, contributing to design, project management and client delivery from inception to hand‑over.
Assistant Engineer – Limerick
Assist in the design and delivery of road schemes and active‑travel projects at the concept and detailed levels.
Support project management activities, including budgeting, contract documentation and tendering.
Prepare technical drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and support the development of tender packages.
Maintain compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and in‑house QA/HSE standards.
Work collaboratively with multi‑disciplinary teams and develop professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Engineer – Limerick
Lead technical delivery of road, public‑transport and active‑travel schemes, ensuring coordination of multi‑disciplinary inputs.
Manage project budgets, fee proposals, and contract documentation (Public Works Contracts).
Provide technical oversight for alignment, drainage and BIM integration using Civil3D/Open Roads and WinDes.
Conduct design reviews, technical checks and client‑facing meetings; build trusted client relationships.
Ensure health, safety and environmental compliance throughout the project life‑cycle.
Senior Engineer – Limerick
Lead and mentor junior staff, including line management and professional development.
Drive the design of major national road schemes (e.g., N/M20 Cork‑to‑Limerick) and large public‑transport projects.
Negotiate and secure approvals, consents and design fixes for complex projects.
Act as technical lead on tender preparation, procurement and contract administration.
Report project status, risks and opportunities to senior leadership and clients; advise on technical matters.
Principal Engineer – Limerick
Strategic leadership of the Engineering team, shaping the technical direction of road and public‑transport projects.
Drive innovation in design and delivery, ensuring that solutions meet the highest standards of quality and sustainability.
Represent WSP at high‑level client engagements and stakeholder meetings.
Oversee large budgets, complex contractual arrangements and the performance of multiple delivery teams.
Champion continuous improvement, safety culture and environmental stewardship across all projects.
Key Qualifications (all levels)
Graduate degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Incorporated or Chartership with a recognised engineering institution (e.g., AMIEI/MIEI).
Experience in contract preparation, site supervision or contract administration for Public Works Contracts.
Proficiency in Civil3D/Open Roads, WinDes or similar alignment and drainage design tools.
Strong communication and client‑management skills; competency in stakeholder management.
Excellent IT skills – MS Project, Microsoft Office; knowledge of H&S & Environmental regulations.
In‑depth understanding of Transport Infrastructure Ireland/National Transport Authority standards and guidelines.
