An acute service based in Kildare is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Physiotherapist (Respiratory) to join its dynamic acute services team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality respiratory physiotherapy services across inpatient wards, including acute medical, respiratory, and critical care settings as required.
This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician with strong acute respiratory experience who is passionate about evidence-based practice, multidisciplinary collaboration, and service development within a busy hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Physiotherapist:
Provide advanced respiratory physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients in acute and subacute settings
Manage a complex caseload including patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions
Contribute to early supported discharge planning and patient flow initiatives
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including consultants, nursing staff, and allied health professionals
Supervise and support staff grade physiotherapists and students
Participate in weekend and on-call respiratory rotas where required
Maintain high standards of documentation and clinical governance
Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Essential Criteria for the Senior Physiotherapist:
BSc (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy
Current CORU registration
Minimum of three years post-qualification experience, with significant experience in acute respiratory physiotherapy
Demonstrated experience working in an acute hospital setting
Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills
Excellent communication and team-working abilities
Desirable Criteria:
Experience in critical care or high-dependency respiratory services
Postgraduate training in respiratory physiotherapy or a related area
Experience supervising junior staff and students
