The Shift Supervisor is responsible for managing production activities and supervising all shift operatives to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, product specifications, and safety standards. The role requires a hands-on technical background—ideally a fitter, mechanic, or someone with experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of injection moulding machinery is a distinct advantage.
The supervisor will oversee the smooth operation of production machinery, including troubleshooting, process optimisation, and carrying out mould changeovers. Ensuring high-quality output and meeting production targets are central to this role. The Shift Supervisor is also accountable for maintaining a safe working environment in line with company policies and Irish legislation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee production to meet agreed quality standards and specifications.
2. Maximise production output while ensuring product quality is never compromised.
3. Carry out mould changeovers, machine maintenance, breakdown repairs, fault-finding, and process optimisation.
4. Supervise, train, and motivate operatives to achieve high performance standards. Maintain training records and ensure refresher training is provided where required.
5. Conduct performance appraisals and manage staff fairly, referring disciplinary matters to management where necessary.
6. Ensure full compliance with company policies, cleanroom procedures, and hygiene regulations.
7. Promote and maintain a safe work environment, delivering safety training and ensuring compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
8. Plan and organise production to meet targets in a cost-effective and efficient manner, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and on time.
9. Monitor and review:Product quality (sampling and testing),Production output,Reject rates and non-conforming product,Operator performance.
10. Ensure sufficient raw materials are available throughout the shift and for handover to the next shift.
11. Provide clear and effective shift handovers to ensure continuity of production.
Candidate Profile
12. Technical background, ideally a qualified fitter, mechanic, or equivalent.
13. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.
14. Injection moulding experience is highly desirable.
