Job Description
A kitchen wash-up assistant is primarily responsible for maintaining kitchen hygiene and cleanliness by washing dishes, pots, and pans by hand or using a dishwasher. Key duties include operating and cleaning the dishwasher, sanitising work areas and equipment, disposing of waste and recycling, and potentially assisting with food preparation tasks like chopping and food storage. This role is crucial for a well-functioning kitchen, requiring attention to detail, good time management, and the ability to work efficiently in a team.
* Washing and Sanitising: Clean and sanitise crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment using dishwashers and by hand.
* Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep work surfaces, floors, walls, and storage areas clean and tidy at all times.
* Waste Management: Collect, sort, and dispose of general waste, recycling, and compost in the appropriate bins.
* Food Storage and Handling: Store food in designated containers and areas to prevent spoilage, and handle food items with care to avoid damage.
* Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including dishwashing machines and pot-scrubbing stations.
* Stock Management: Help with restocking, checking inventory, and organising the storeroom.
