Job Summary:
The IT Manufacturing Solutions Architect will support manufacturing operations in the in designing, implementing, and optimizing MES of IT solutions and will play a support role in implementing the Critical Manufacturing's Manufacturing Execution System (MES) that leverages Kubernetes for enhanced scalability, resilience, and efficiency. This role will work with Manufacturing and Quality to optimize manufacturing processes and systems to drive business process improvements, system automation, continuous improvement, and production support. This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, MES platforms, and cloud-native technologies, particularly Kubernetes.
This role will report into the IT Manufacturing, RDE, & Quality team and dotted line to the Digital Manufacturing COE being an integral part of the digital transformation for Integer.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
General Requirements

* Architect and Design MES Solutions: Support the design and architecture of MES solutions tailored to our manufacturing processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
* Kubernetes Integration: Assist in integrating MES solutions with containerized environments, enabling container orchestration, microservices deployment, and efficient resource management
* MES Platform Management: Support the implementation and maintenance of MES platforms, ensuring seamless integration with existing manufacturing systems and IT infrastructure. Continuous research of emerging technology and proposing options to leverage. Develop, implement, and optimize stored procedures and functions using SQL. Serve as the primary point of contact for functional issues with vendors, IT, and manufacturing operations. Responsible for troubleshooting technical problems with existing systems, escalating support cases with vendors, and analyzing performance slowdowns. Acts as point of escalation for technical issues. Participates in defining standards and metrics for systems. Performs other functions as required to preserve SLA to customer base.
* Cloud-Native Applications: Assist in deploying MES applications using microservices architecture, ensuring high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
* System Optimization: Support performance monitoring and optimization efforts, scalability, and reliability using Kubernetes and other cloud-native tools.
* Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing engineers, IT specialists, and DevOps teams, to ensure successful MES deployment and integration. Prepare, test and support disaster recovery plans.
* System Maintenance: Participate in system maintenance (review application patch, document test plan, and execute test scripts).
* Technical Leadership: Collaborate with senior team members to development teams, guiding best practices in Kubernetes, containerization, and MES architecture.
* System Applications Integrations: Assist in implementing integrations between solutions collaborating with stakeholders and other IT team members (CMMS, LMS, QMS, etc)
* Machine Automation: Support MES integration with manufacturing equipment utilizing the native MES machine integration capabilities.
* Application Testing/Validation: Assist in creating test plans and scripts; Conduct / participate in testing the solution to ensure the solution meets functional and technical requirements. Participate in IQ/OQ/PQ activities and the process for collection of requirements and writing of validation documents.
* Security and Compliance: Ensure MES solutions comply with industry regulations and security standards, implementing robust security measures within the Kubernetes environment. Follow Integer standards for validation, project management and SDLC.
* Troubleshooting and Support: Assist in troubleshooting and resolving of MES-related issues, optimizing system performance and minimizing downtime. Review system release notes and determine functionality needs for the business.
* Continuous Improvement: Stay apprised of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in MES, Kubernetes, and manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Education & Experience:
Education:
* Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
* Minimum 5 years of experience in MES architecture, design, and implementation.
* Familiarity with container orchestration tools and container orchestration.
* Knowledge in integration of MES with ERP, CMMS, SPC, and manufacturing equipment
* Experience in the manufacturing sector, with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and MES systems (e.g., Critical Manufacturing, Siemens OpsCenter, Rockwell Automation, etc.).
Knowledge & Skills:
Technical Skills:
* Proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration tools.
* Basic understanding of cloud-native concepts, microservices, and containerization.
* Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services.
* Familiarity with MES platforms, integration, and customization.
* Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices and set up.
* Basic scripting and programming skills (e.g., MS ASP.NET)
* Knowledge and experience with database queries, reporting and procedures (SQL DB and/or Oracle).
* SDLC and Project Management skills; familiarity with basic PM and SDLC methodologies
Soft Skills:
* Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with other orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, OpenShift).
* Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Kanban, JIT, MTO, MTS, Job, batch, and mass production methods
* Familiarity with manufacturing standards and controls such as GXP, ISA-95, GMP, etc.
* Relevant Certifications in Kubernetes (CKA, CKAD) or MES platforms.
* Periodic travel is required.
