Associate Director – Roads, Public Transport and Greenways Team, AECOM Surface Transportation, Ireland.
Deliver and lead multidisciplinary teams across the country, interface with clients in person, prepare feasibility studies, detailed designs, administer contracts, bid development and provide technical and commercial leadership.

Here’s what you’ll do
* Deliver: A wide portfolio of road projects from pursuit through to completion or single large‑scale commissions.
* Oversee: Appointment of competent discipline lead engineers, plan and develop engineering tasks, define scope and investigate novel concepts.
* Provide Expertise: Offer technical knowledge and expertise on all aspects of multi‑disciplinary projects, from conceptual phases to implementation.
* Ensure Quality: Work through complexities of transportation projects, enabling clients to overcome problems when they arise.
* Collaborate: Lead a team of multi‑disciplinary engineers to deliver integrated designs and build effective relationships with technical teams and clients.
Duties
* Mitigate and manage contract risk associated with scope creep, monitor key project performance indicators and ensure accurate, timely project data.
* Provide technical scrutiny and verification of project deliverables; independently prepare reports and communicate with senior management.
* Demonstrate team leadership skills; undertake mentoring and line‑management duties.
* Bring innovation and new ideas to clients and project teams.
* Exhibit commercial acumen and contribute to bid development.
* Show competence in safety management during design and construction, understanding legislative requirements for designers, and champion AECOM quality assurance and control standards.
Qualifications
* Ideally chartered with a relevant institution (Engineers Ireland, ICE or similar).
* Experience in road and highways engineering and approval of complex transportation designs.
* Experience with NTA and TII Standards, Project Management Guidelines and Project Appraisal Guidelines.
* Good working knowledge of contracts (PWC/GCC/NEC/FIDIC); preference for candidates who have acted as employer’s representative or equivalent on works contracts above €5m and associated dispute resolution processes.
