Job Title: Senior Orthoptist
A senior orthoptist is required for new opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work within the scope of practice and maintain professional standards.
* Perform clinical duties in accordance with directives issued.
* Carry a caseload, be responsible for own workload, and accept referrals as per local policy.
* Conduct assessments and treatments for children and/or adults/patients.
* Aid in patient assessment, particularly Diplopia cases.
* Carry out supervision, direction of Amblyopia therapy, and instruct patients/parents/guardians on home treatment.
* Participate in visual field examinations, digital imaging, and other automated investigations.
* Provide additional ophthalmic investigations, interpret results, and provide recommendations to professionals.
* Diagnose, formulate a treatment program, and organize onward referral if necessary.
* Liaise with medical staff, provide counseling, and review patient progress regularly.
Education and Training:
* Participate in mandatory training programs.
* Engage in continuing professional development, including in-service training and conferences relevant to practice.
* Engage in support/supervision, participate in performance review, and contribute to research.
* Manage student placements and participate in practice education.
* Develop protocols, patient care plans, goal setting, and outcome measures.
Health & Safety:
* Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and safe professional practice.
* Work safely with due care and attention to the safety of self and others.
* Be aware of risk management issues, identify risks, and take action.
* Document near misses, hazards, and accidents and report them.
Administrative:
* Contribute to service planning and development.
* Plan and manage resources efficiently.
* Undertake administrative duties as agreed.
