This is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the transport and delivery function across a multi-site network, ensuring the seamless distribution of goods to a large retail client base across Ireland.

Key Responsibilities:
Team & Driver Leadership
- Lead and support a team of professional drivers and logistics staff
- Oversee driver rosters, training, performance reviews, and development
- Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring adherence to all operational protocols
Route Planning & Optimisation
- Analyse delivery routes and implement improvements to maximise efficiency
- Leverage logistics and route planning systems to reduce mileage, fuel usage, and emissions
- Adjust transport schedules to reflect customer demand patterns and service levels
Fleet Oversight
- Manage a modern fleet of commercial vehicles, ensuring operational reliability
- Coordinate preventative maintenance, inspections, and safety compliance
- Work with third-party maintenance providers to uphold standards and reduce downtime
Operational Performance
- Monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery, vehicle utilisation, and cost efficiency
- Identify bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide regular reports and insights to senior stakeholders
Customer-Focused Delivery
- Ensure accurate and timely fulfilment of all outbound deliveries
- Liaise with commercial, warehouse, and customer service teams to resolve logistics queries
- Maintain high levels of reliability and professionalism across all transport interactions
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with road transport legislation across Ireland and the UK
- Maintain accurate documentation, including tachograph records and driver working hours
- Stay up to date on changes in transport laws and industry regulations
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Manage transport budgets and monitor cost performance
- Identify opportunities to reduce spend through route efficiency and asset utilisation
- Produce transport reports, forecasts, and financial insights for leadership review
What We're Looking For:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a transport or logistics management role
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams in a fast-moving distribution environment
- Deep understanding of Irish and UK transport regulations and compliance practices
- Commercially astute with a track record of managing budgets and reducing operational costs
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a hands-on approach
- Proficient in transport management systems (TMS), routing software, and Microsoft Office
- Full clean driving licence
- CPC certification is essential
