The nursing home at Portumna Retirement Village has a maximum capacity for sixty three residents.
The nursing home is located in Portumna in Co Galway. It was opened in December 2007 and has consistently been recognised by HIQA as providing its residents with excellent care. Please see the HIQA website for the most recent report.
We are seeking to recruit a staff nurse to work full time, - say 36 hours per week, but with the ability to work increased hours on occasion to cover annual leave or sick leave.
Candidate must be 2025 registered with NMBI.
The role of the nurse involves the management of nursing of elderly residents, medication management, preparing care plans, and the supervision of the care assistant team on duty.
Candidates must be committed to their role and be able to communicate effectively with residents and colleagues.
It is essential that candidates have experience of working as a Staff Nurse in an Irish nursing home environment for at least two years.
Variable shifts apply. Successful candidates will be rostered to usually work 12hr shifts Mon-Sun.
It is expected that the successful candidate will start induction training in November/December.

If this is not the case, then the applicant is asked to please clarify their circumstances as consideration will not be given to applications from candidates that provide no explanation as to how they would plan to work in Portumna but live more than thirty minutes away.
This opportunity is not suitable for someone that would require a work permit or sponsorship to work in Ireland as a near immediate start is required.
