Maritime Forensic Consultant
This is an exciting opportunity to transition from hands-on marine operations into a highly respected maritime consultant role supporting litigation and other investigations in the maritime sector.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct thorough investigations of maritime incidents involving towing operations.
* Analyze tug, tow, and barge handling procedures to identify areas for improvement.
* Prepare detailed expert reports to support clients' cases.
* Testify as an expert witness in depositions and court proceedings.
* Collaborate with attorneys and other technical experts to provide comprehensive support.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* College degree in a relevant field (e.g. marine science, engineering).
* 15+ years of experience operating towing vessels (inland and/or ocean).
* Valid USCG license (Master or Mate) with towing endorsement or similar professional background.
* Thorough understanding of navigation, towing safety, Coast Guard regulations, and industry practices.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent technical and analytical skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Willingness to travel approximately 20%.
* Candidates must pass drug, background, and reference checks.
