Salary: €63,311 to €101,461 or £55,067.65 to £88,250.37 (converted salary*)
Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with current Government pay policy.
The School of History and Geography at Dublin City University is seeking an Assistant Professor in Modern European History (permanent).
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach in their research specialization and survey modules in modern European history. They will design and teach a combination of core and optional modules on the BA Joint Honours and Bachelor of Religious Education with History programmes, and may also teach on other School and Faculty programmes, such as the MA in History and the BA Single Module programme, as deemed appropriate by the Head of School.
The School offers opportunities to supervise postgraduate students, encourages applications for external research funding, and is committed to high-quality research, expecting staff to publish regularly in leading journals and with top academic presses, with support for such work.

Qualifications and Experience:
The required qualifications and experience are:
Mandatory
* PhD in History or a closely related field.
* Research specialization focused on nineteenth or twentieth-century continental European history.
* Strong research credentials and an appropriate publication record.
* Ability to complement existing strengths in the School.
* Independent research program with potential to attract research funding.
* Undergraduate teaching experience, including innovative pedagogies and online or technology-assisted teaching.
* Willingness and capacity to teach outside their research area.
* Ideally, at least three years of relevant post-doctoral experience.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, teamwork, and a collegial approach.
* Postgraduate teaching experience.
