Job descriptionThe Great Southern Killarney is looking for an energetic, friendly and experienced full-time and part -time Leisure Attendant with Lifeguard to join our team. The ideal candidate is someone who is approachable, professional and enjoys the fast pace of working in a large dynamic environment. Someone who can consistently provide a high standard of service and contribute to the overall guest experience.Purpose of the positionLeisure Attendant/Lifeguard is responsible for the prevention of accidents as well as the minimization and elimination of hazardous conditions in all Leisure Centre and swimming pool areas. In addition, Leisure Attendant/Lifeguard will have a natural flair for working with children and have the willingness to work across various fields in the Leisure Centre, including reception and cleaning duties.Shifts are primarily weekday evenings (6–10 pm), weekend evenings (3–9 pm or 5–9 pm), with occasional daytime shifts during weekends, Bank Holidays and midterms (10 am–6 pm).Key delivery areas:Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facilityAct immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergencyProvide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical servicesPresent a professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain a high standard of customer serviceAttend mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduledMaintain a clean facility performing house cleaning dutiesResponsible for the safety of participants in the poolBegin and end class on time, remain after class to answer participant and/or parent questions as needed, and clean up suppliesSubmit completed report cards, skills sheets and attendance information on timePerform water chemical balance testsMaintaining all areas of leisure centre, including equipment and linen cupboards / stores / pantries in a clean, hygienic and tidy conditionEnsuring that all chemicals used in Leisure Centre is replenished as required and that the Supervisor is made aware of the need to order chemical stocks to ensure the continuity of serviceEnsuring that infection control policies are strictly adhered toEnsure that all items of Leisure Centre, equipment and utilities are in a good state of repair and bringing to the attention of management where any items require replacement and highlighting any items or areas that need maintenanceTo understand responsibilities in relation to Fire Procedures, Health and Safety, Infection Control and Emergency AidTo undertake such other duties as may be determined from time to time within the general scope of the postMaintain stock levels of stationary, linen, towels and amenity requirements on in order to ensure consistency in standardsMaintain a safe and hygienic working environment in all back of house areas and report any lost property and maintenance issues to your manager / supervisorEnsure consistency and speed of serviceTo observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensure that instructions specified are adhered toComply with Health & Safety regulationsRole Requirements:At least 1 year experience in a similar role preferredQualification in Life-guarding (Irish Water Safety Pool Lifeguard or equivalent) EssentialQualification in Occupational First Aid would be an advantageFitness instructor/personal trainer would be an advantageKnowledge of and the ability to demonstrate skills in swim lessons instructionAbility to demonstrate skills as required for class content and use teaching aids such as kick-boards, diving rings, life jackets, etc.Thorough Understanding of the importance of Customer Experience and uncompromising standards of excellenceHigh Attention to DetailWillingness to work in various functions across departmentsGreat communication skills – ability to clearly communicate with guests and management and staff across a variety of nationalities and experience levelsFluent English (written and verbal)Energetic, Friendly, Approachable, Professional, Courteous and Well GroomedHave the ability to maintain accuracy and speed whilst working under pressureFocused on providing a consistently high standard of service and hygieneBe standards driven, a team player, flexiblePossess the ability to work under pressureHave excellent organisational skillsNOTE: For the full-time position a valid and up-to-date lifeguard certificate is mandatoryBenefits· Meals provided on duty· Promotional and educational support opportunities.· Employee engagement initiatives such as weekly and monthly rewards for exceptional service and social events.· Discounted use of hotel facilities and stays across the group· Free uniforms· Wellness initiativesIf this sounds like the role for you, apply todayWe embrace a culture of innovation, creativity and empowerment.
