Social Care Worker
Camphill Communities of Ireland are seeking to hire a Social Care Worker. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for a new challenge.
Purpose of Post
The position requires a high degree of understanding and commitment to the residents and to Camphill Communities of Ireland. The prime consideration at all times must be the welfare and wellbeing of the residents. Confidentiality regarding residents and staff is paramount.
The Social Care Worker must have the ability to work with people with an intellectual disability and believe in their right to live and participate equally in the community. In cooperation with the Shift Lead and the Person In Charge, the role involves overseeing the growth and development of residents within the ethos of CCoI.
The ideal candidate must be responsible, reliable, competent in household management, and capable of creating a homely, supportive environment. Maturity to resolve conflicts and empower individuals with divergent views is essential.
Flexibility, teamwork, leadership, and a commitment to the ethos and vision of CCoI are critical. The role involves setting a positive example through attitude, conduct, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Advocacy & Rights
1. Respect each person as an equal citizen.
2. Uphold and respect the human, legal, and constitutional rights of service users, promoting autonomy.
3. Develop decision-making and self-advocacy skills.
4. Encourage involvement in advocacy.
5. Support pursuit of hobbies and interests.
6. Foster social skills and autonomy.
7. Assist integration into the community.
Person-Centred Support for Living
1. Ensure a person-centred approach to service delivery.
2. Support individuals with various aspects of their personal and social needs, including occupation, communication, behaviour, and independent living skills.
3. Act as a Key Worker for specific individuals, developing and implementing person-centred plans.
4. Coordinate medical appointments, support healthy diets, and develop appropriate activities.
5. Support community participation and adherence to behaviour support plans.
6. Promote personal hygiene, physical support, and participation in recreational activities.
7. Manage transportation and financial participation, including personal monies and household finances.
8. Support religious and pastoral needs.
9. Administer medications and maintain records.
10. Assist with household management, including maintenance and laundry.
Management and Leadership
1. Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and standards.
2. Maintain accurate records and reports.
3. Oversee the wellbeing of residents and coordinate staff schedules.
4. Lead and train staff and volunteers.
5. Ensure policy adherence and efficient use of transport services.
Money and Budgets
1. Manage petty cash and personal monies responsibly.
2. Assist in budget preparation and monitoring.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Applicants must hold a minimum of Level 7 on the QQI Framework (BA in Social Care Studies or equivalent), have at least 1 year's experience working with vulnerable adults or those with intellectual disabilities, and possess a full driver's license with own car.

Salary: €36,379 - €52,445 per annum
