Environmental Sustainability Coordinator Job Description


Job Summary:

The Environmental Sustainability Coordinator is a key role within our organization, responsible for leading and supporting the development and implementation of environmental initiatives across the site. This includes fostering strong cross-functional relationships, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, and driving operational excellence through sustainable practices.


Key Responsibilities:

* Develop and Implement Environmental Initiatives:
* • Work closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to champion responsible care, enhance site performance, and contribute to business objectives while upholding core values.
* • Participate in training and team-building activities to support the development of an effective and proactive safety culture on-site.
* • Lead or support root cause investigations, drive problem-solving efforts, and document investigation results to support continuous environmental improvements.
* Compliance and Regulatory Management:
* • Ensure all processes comply with environmental regulations and standards, maintaining and working with team members to enhance and maintain safety standards.
* • Participate in internal and third-party audits to verify compliance with Responsible Care requirements within areas of work.
* Operational Excellence:
* • Implement sustainable practices that minimize environmental impact, such as reducing waste, emissions, and energy consumption.
* • Engage with site initiatives to drive energy conservation projects, ensuring waste is managed in accordance with standard operating procedures and environmental management systems.
* Collaboration and Communication:
* • Develop effective working relationships with site-based and central teams, including external parties, to deliver results through the team.
* • Maintain open and transparent communication with team members, keeping them updated on project progress and changes.
* Education and Qualifications:
* • Diploma/Occupational Certificate in Environmental Science or related technical discipline.
* • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of safe working practices, good environmental management standards, and production processes within the food/dairy production environment.
* • Honours Degree or higher in Environmental Science or related technical discipline is desirable.
* Skills and Abilities:
* • Excellent communication skills, PC skills, and understanding of Microsoft Office packages.
* • Ability to display initiative, apply problem-solving skills, and work to timely deadlines.
* Behaviours:
* • Self-motivated, teamwork-oriented, meticulous approach to tasks, adaptable to short & long-term change.
* • Exemplary attendance and disciplinary record.
* Circumstances:
* • Willingness to operate outside core hours as required.
