Financial Controller Location: Dublin City Centre, Ireland Reports to: General Manager (dotted-line to Group Finance Director) Team: 34 direct reports (Assistant FC / Accounts / Payroll / Revenue) About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to join a prominent city-centre hotel, part of a well-established and growing hospitality group. With a major expansion project currently underway, this is a key leadership role, responsible for all aspects of financial control, reporting, and strategic planning at the property. The position is ideal for someone with prior experience in hospitality financeor for a qualified accountant from a small or medium-sized practice who is looking to transition into a fast-paced, dynamic operational environment and has a genuine interest in the hospitality industry. Key Responsibilities Strategic & Financial Oversight Lead the end-to-end finance function of the hotel, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow. Provide financial leadership and insight to support the hotels operational and commercial strategy. Support the planning and financial management of a major on-site expansion, including capital expenditure tracking and group reporting. Financial Control & Reporting Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly accounts and financial statements. Maintain robust internal controls, compliance with accounting standards, and group policies. Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and group finance on statutory filings and annual audits. Business Partnering Work closely with the General Manager and heads of department to manage costs, optimise revenues, and drive profitability. Analyse performance metrics, support pricing and sales decisions, and provide commercial recommendations. Team Management Lead, mentor, and develop a finance team of 34, fostering high performance and ownership. Oversee daily finance operations including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and revenue management. Group Engagement Act as key liaison between the hotel and the wider group finance team. Contribute to group initiatives, finance system upgrades, and best practice rollouts. Requirements Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CPA). Experience in hospitality finance, OR strong candidates from small/medium-sized accountancy firms with a demonstrable interest in hotels or leisure sectors. Strong technical accounting skills and business acumen. Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally. Comfortable working in a hands-on role, with the capacity to manage daily operations and strategic planning. Proficiency in Excel and exposure to accounting/ERP systems; hotel systems (e.g. Opera, Sage, Sun) a plus.
