OverviewAmazon CloudFront is looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to join our Routing Dataplane team in Dublin, Ireland. This role sits at the intersection of distributed systems, networking, and performance engineering. You will work on systems that operate at global scale, processing millions of requests per second and delivering content with high availability, low latency, and strong security guarantees. This includes designing and optimizing critical dataplane components such as layer 4 packet processing, TCP/IP stack enhancements, DDoS detection and mitigation, and Anycast-based routing systems.Key Job ResponsibilitiesDesign and build high‑performance networking systems that operate in the CloudFront edge networkDevelop and optimize layer 4 packet processing pipelines for ultra‑low latency and high throughputEnhance TCP/IP stack behavior for performance, congestion control, and resilience at scaleBuild systems for real‑time DDoS detection, mitigation, and traffic shapingDesign and evolve Anycast routing strategies to improve global traffic distribution and availabilityOwn critical dataplane services end‑to‑end: design, implementation, deployment, and operationsAnalyze large‑scale network telemetry to identify performance bottlenecks and failure modesDrive operational excellence, including monitoring, alerting, and rapid incident responseContribute to architectural decisions that influence global traffic engineering strategiesA Day in the LifeYou will work on systems that operate at massive global scale, solving complex problems in networking, distributed systems, and real‑time traffic engineering.
