Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join their multidisciplinary team in a busy acute hospital providing a full range of emergency services.
The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership, deliver high-quality patient care, and contribute to the development and governance of emergency services in line with national standards.Key Responsibilities:Provide specialist assessment and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.Lead and participate in the delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centred emergency care.Supervise and support junior medical staff, including registrars, SHOs, and interns.Work in collaboration with other specialties to ensure timely patient flow and effective care pathways.Contribute to the development, implementation, and audit of clinical guidelines and protocols.Participate in teaching, training, and continuing medical education (CME) activities.Engage in clinical governance, quality improvement, and risk management.Participate in the Emergency Medicine Consultant on-call rota.Essential Qualifications and Experience:Registered or eligible for registration on the Specialist Division of the Irish Medical Council (IMC) in the specialty of Emergency Medicine.Fellowship of a recognised postgraduate medical training body (e.g., FRCEM, FACEM, ABEM, etc.).
Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in Emergency Medicine.Proven leadership, teaching, and service development experience.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills.Desirable:Experience in sub-specialty areas such as Paediatric Emergency Medicine, Toxicology, or Pre-hospital Emergency Care.Research experience and/or academic publications.Higher degree (MD, MSc, PhD) desirable but not essential.
