Purpose
As a Lead Cloud Infrastructure Engineer in SITA’s Airports Portfolio you will lead technical design, development and maintenance of the Azure Cloud platform and related services to enable the modernisation and efficient delivery of services to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
Key contributor to the design, planning and implementation of our Azure cloud solutions and services to ensure optimum cloud performance and reliability across our cloud infrastructure, building in continuous process improvement and CI/CD pipelines.
Works as part of a broader team of problem solvers helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution via automation.
Acts as a key liaison with senior technology stakeholders and partners to ensure full delivery of software releases & product roadmaps.
Interfaces with Developers, Engineers, Architects, Ops and Support staff to design, develop and implement cost‑effective Cloud Solutions using IaaS, PaaS, SaaS so that it is flexible, extensible, elastic, secure and reliable at large scale.
Recommends and participates in the selection of new technologies and technical processes working closely with the Architecture Team to implement the top cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the strategic needs of the organization.
Creates reusable platform components for products, develops and maintains CI/CD pipelines from development right through to production.
Works within agile methodologies, following SITA coding guidelines and practices for all technical processes and documenting solutions.
Mentoring and guiding junior team members on IaC practices, Kubernetes operations, and Azure platform engineering.
Provides expert level support to Operational teams.
Issues technical recommendations and guidelines for implementation and support.
Qualifications
6+ years Cloud Platform Engineering experience
Experience designing, configuring & implementing infrastructure and network solutions in Azure. Experience with LAN & WAN networking, TCP/IP, load balancing principles. Experience with hub and spoke and landing zones. Experience with automating CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps. Experience with production grade AKS clusters and associated challenges. Experience with creating application and infrastructure monitoring solutions. Experience creating and delivering Cloud Platform technology roadmaps.
Knowledge & Skills
Ability to be the lead technical role on complex projects overseeing requirement analysis through implementation and/or support. Understand the customer's business objectives for assigned projects. Coordinate multiple technical streams of work to produce a complete solution with high‑level designs. Understand the concept of IT security and its application to computer systems architecture. Sound knowledge of system integration and hardware. Sound understanding of agile methodologies and practices. Understand and articulate trade‑offs and risks with technical choices.
Strong understanding of Azure networking VNet peering, NSGs, UDR, NAT Gateway, private DNS, service endpoints.
Experience in managing and provisioning infrastructure through code (IaC).
Experience with automating CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
Ability to quickly learn and understand new technologies or concepts, review functional and technical requirements, raising potential issues and participating actively in design discussions.
Experience with creating application and infrastructure monitoring solutions.
Experience creating and delivering Cloud Platform technology roadmaps.

Experience And Skills In The Following Technologies
Terraform experience with module authoring, state management, provider configuration, CI/CD integration.
Azure DevOps CI/CD Pipeline Engineering. Own the Azure Pipelines template library (multi‑stage YAML), self‑hosted agent infrastructure, and automated testing integration.
Kubernetes Operations managing AKS cluster lifecycle, Kluctl/Helm deployment orchestration, operator configuration.
Proficiency with GNU Make as a build orchestration tool.
Semantic versioning, commit conventions, and automated dependency management (Renovate, sv4git, commitlint).
Container Platform maintain Docker base images, agent images, and secure image supply chain via industry best practices such as utilising ACR and Trivy scanning.
Testing & Quality – maintain/extend the continuous deployment test framework (Postman API tests, K6 load tests, Pester unit tests).
Practical hands‑on Azure skills including Azure AppGW, WAF, Vnet, Routing, Subnets, App services, VMs, Helm and Helmfile.
Security & Compliance Azure best practices for cloud security such as enforcing network segmentation, private endpoints, CIS‑hardened images, WAF policies, RBAC, and managed identity patterns.
PowerShell module development, Pester testing, Azure automation.
Bash shell scripting for container entry points and CI tasks.
Active directory, Azure AD, Azure AD B2C.
Git‑based workflows with trunk‑based development and branch‑per‑environment patterns.
Experience In The Following An Advantage
Experience managing RabbitMQ clusters in Kubernetes.
Experience with Go / GoLang and Python languages.

University degree or equivalent preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or similar. Where applicable a recognised professional qualification is desirable.
