As Programme Community Liaison you will work closely with the Breeding Waders EIP management and the NARGC Chairman, and other employees to understand the scope of the programme, programme deliverables and outputs, and your role in this team.
You will be responsible for recruiting volunteer citizen scientists in the designated areas and by working closely with them, ensure that they are trained and equipped to fully implement the objectives of this project. You will continue to liaise with volunteers and local groups throughout the project and will monitor progress, with other staff members, to ensure the projects objectives and outputs are delivered in all areas of the designated project site.
You will assist in ensuring that the volunteers collect data and report in an agreed format, so that the project is consistent throughout the designated area, thereby contributing to project teams overall reporting.
Continuous ongoing liaison and coordination of the volunteers will be your responsibility.
The candidate must have their own transport, a full driving licence and their vehicle must be insured for business use in addition to their domestic use.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
* Experience and understanding of the Natural Environment, and the effects of predation on native species, especially ground-nesting birds.
* Fully understand and appreciate the need for predator control, and eradication in relation to invasive species, and be proactive and determined in pursuing that goal.
* Have worked on or have first-hand experience of Predator control.
* A track record in working in environments where organisational and multitasking qualities are required, on your own or as a team.
* A knowledge and awareness of health & safety legislation and regulations, their implications for the organisation and the employee, and their application.
* Have a professional appearance and attitude.
* Discretion and confidentiality.
* Use your Interpersonal skills and can communicate effectively at all levels both in writing and verbally with technical and scientific, and non-technical groups.
* Be capable of addressing groups or meetings and delivering a coherent message.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Have experience of leading a team and working with various other agencies and or volunteers as required.
* Game keeper or kindred type professional qualifications, and or experience.
* A degree in Ecology, or equivalent type qualification in relation to habitat or species management.
* Holds a firearms licence and has personally partaken in nest protection/predator control previously.
* Have been involved in academic studies in this area previously
* Experience of coordinating and or understanding regional scale field species work.
Main Duties:
The coordinator duties will include but not be limited to the following:
* Direct reporting to the NARGC Chairman, NARGC board, Breeding Waders EIP Management and Midland's Mink eradication Programme Coordinator.
* Organise and deliver training and promotional events.
* Maintain accurate records of all training including Health & Safety training.
* Pursue the objectives of the project, and work with other staff members to issue reports on same as required.
* Work and collaborate with the other employees working on the Breeding Waders EIP project.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: Up to €25,000.00 per year
