The Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated butcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in meat preparation and cutting, as well as an understanding of food safety standards. The butcher will cut, trim, and prepare meat products, ensure high-quality standards, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
This is a full-time position working an average of 39 hours per week, 5 days over 7 to include weekends and public holidays.
Main Duties
* Select and prepare meat by cutting, trimming, and boning various cuts of meat, such as beef, pork, lamb, and poultry.
* Weigh and package meat products for customers.
* Ensure all meat products meet health and safety regulations and maintain high-quality standards.
* Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the butcher counter, tools, and equipment.
* Assist customers by offering advice on different cuts of meat and recommending cooking techniques.
* Monitor stock levels and ensure proper storage of meat to prevent spoilage.
* Process orders and manage product rotation to reduce waste.
* Operate and maintain various tools and machinery, such as saws, knives, and grinders.
* Collaborate with other staff members to meet customer demand and ensure smooth operations.
* HACCP Duties.
Requirements
* Must be fluent in the English Language, both written and spoken.
* Proven experience as a butcher or in a similar role, with aminimum of 2/3 years experience working as a butcher in a busy premises
* Knowledge of meat-cutting techniques and various cuts of meat.
* Understand food safety regulations and proper handling of meat products.
* Excellent knife skills and ability to operate butcher equipment.
* Strong communication and customer service skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle physically demanding tasks.
* Must be available to work early starts, late finishes, and weekends.
* Must be able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
