Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead and support the development of copper and metalwork components for our LV Switchgear product line. In this role, you will drive the design and implementation of mechanical systems that are integral to our industry‑leading switchgear solutions. You will play a key role in product innovation, team mentoring, and cross‑functional collaboration with stakeholders across global production sites.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the mechanical design and development of copper busbar systems and sheet metal components for LV switchgear assemblies.
* Collaborate with senior design engineers, electrical engineers, and product managers to define and deliver project objectives and technical solutions.
* Oversee and maintain the CAD library of mechanical components, ensuring consistent documentation for global manufacturing use.
* Apply engineering best practices to innovate and improve LV switchgear construction methods, optimizing for safety, performance, and manufacturability.
* Support and enforce design change management processes to ensure accurate communication of updates to global production teams.
* Prepare and present technical progress reports in line with project timelines and milestones.
* Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to team skill development.
* Liaise with manufacturing teams, supporting prototype builds and assisting with problem‑solving on the production floor.
Qualifications & Skills
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
* 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within LV Switchgear or related electrical equipment.
* Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD; experience with other CAD tools is a strong advantage.
* Strong understanding of copper and sheet metal design, tooling, and fabrication processes.
* Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
* Self‑driven with a proactive approach to problem‑solving and process improvement.
* Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment with cross‑functional and international teams.
* Familiarity with engineering change control procedures and product lifecycle management.
Working Conditions
Office‑based role with regular interaction on the factory floor and in R&D assembly/test areas. Occasional travel may be required to support global projects or production site collaboration.
