We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our client's team on a 12-month contract in Dublin. The position is based entirely on-site.
There is no relocation package or visa sponsorship available for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, build and deploy global DWDM networks that meet the demands of customers.
* Drive scalable network designs to accommodate growing customer needs.
* Create processes for operating and building optical networks.
* Collaborate closely with other Networking teams to achieve common goals.
* Evaluate new products and lead commercial tender processes.
* Ensure the optical network adheres to defined network standards.
* Review and implement changes to optical systems as needed.
* Develop and drive operational excellence projects to improve DWDM network quality and reliability.
* Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions daily.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in a technology-related field or equivalent experience.
* Minimum 7+ years of industry experience.
* Experience with optical planning, modelling tools and rollout of large DWDM networks.
* In-depth knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and IP protocols.
* Expertise in major DWDM platforms (Ciena, Infinera and Cisco).
* Knowledge of major router platforms (Cisco and Juniper) including compatible supervisory and line cards.
* In-depth knowledge of major internet routing protocols; specifically BGP and OSPF.
* Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills.
* Prior experience with various protocols and technologies including DWDM, T1/DS1, DS3, SONET (OC3, OC48), 802.2/3, 802.1d VLANs/STP, IPv4 & IPv6, TCP (internals & flow control), BGP, OSPF, HSRP/GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP, TACACS, IPSEC & VPNs, netflow, DNS, HTTP.
