Overview
Our client, a well-established organisation within the public/regulatory sector, is seeking an experienced Database & Application Administrator for an 8-week contract.
This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, performance, and availability of core databases and business-critical applications. You will support day-to-day operations while contributing to system improvements and short-term project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain SQL Server environments including performance tuning, monitoring, backups, restores, and security configuration
Support and manage enterprise applications such as Dynamics 365 CRM, legacy CRM systems, ServiceDesk Plus, and workflow tools
Develop and maintain T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and other database objects
Deliver reporting solutions using Power BI, SSRS, and custom SQL extracts
Troubleshoot and resolve database and application issues to ensure system stability and data integrity
Manage integrations and ETL processes across internal and external systems
Support system upgrades, migrations, testing, and deployments
Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and audit records
Liaise with third‑party vendors and service providers where required
Ensure compliance with data protection (GDPR), audit, and ICT governance standards
Contribute to ICT projects and service improvement initiatives
Required Experience and Skills
Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a database and/or application administration role
Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including performance optimisation and monitoring
Advanced T‑SQL development and scripting skills
Experience supporting enterprise business applications
Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI and SSRS
Solid understanding of Microsoft 365 and Power Platform
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills
Desirable Experience
Experience in a public sector or regulated environment
Experience with Dynamics 365 or Dataverse administration
Exposure to Azure SQL or cloud‑based environments
Familiarity with ITSM platforms such as ServiceDesk Plus
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Technical Competencies
SQL Server administration including performance tuning, security, disaster recovery, backups, and indexing
Application support and configuration across CRM systems, workflow tools, and ITSM platforms
Automation and scripting using T‑SQL and PowerShell
Reporting and analytics using Power BI and SSRS
Power Platform and Dataverse understanding including tables, connectors, and integrations
Microsoft 365 integration including SharePoint and Teams
Security‑focused approach including access control, audit logging, and data protection
