A leading pharmaceutical client are seeking an Associate Director of Automation to join the site Engineering leadership team at a growing, highly regulated manufacturing facility.
Reporting to the Head of Plant Engineering, this role will lead Automation and Operational Technology (OT) systems across the site, ensuring high performance, compliance and digital advancement. The position will play a key role in major initiatives including electronic Batch Record (eBR) deployment, capital upgrades and digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor and develop the site Automation/OT team (6–8 engineers)
Own site Automation/OT strategy aligned with operational and business goals
Drive compliance, system performance and audit readiness in a cGMP environment
Deliver automation solutions for batch manufacturing systems
Oversee SCADA, PLC and DCS engineering, integration and production support
Manage system validation, cybersecurity, change control and vendor relationships
Support capital projects, technology upgrades and process optimisation
Act as Automation/OT subject matter expert for audits and cross-functional initiatives
Candidate Profile
Degree in Automation, Electrical, Control Systems, Mechatronics or related discipline
8–10 years’ experience in regulated pharma or biotech manufacturing
Strong background in batch automation, SCADA/DCS/PLC systems
Proven people leadership and project delivery experience
Solid understanding of validated systems and regulatory requirements
