Process Optimization Engineer
This is an exciting opportunity to join a manufacturing site that has undergone major investment and expansion. You will be working with a very friendly and experienced team that have a wealth of experience in the leadership team.
In this role you will support the introduction of new products to site, ensuring process optimization using statistical techniques. Prior medical device and/or injection moulding experience essential.
You will work closely with the Production Group leaders (PGL's) in troubleshooting processing problems and establish relationships with customers and suppliers in pursuit of continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will have a National Diploma in Engineering, preferably a Degree in Plastics Engineering, and a minimum of 3 years' experience in the injection moulding industry.
They must have a good knowledge of Injection Moulding, Processing, Ancillary equipment and automation systems, as well as Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of experiments (DOE).
The successful candidate will be able to accurately document work performed, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the introduction of all new products into the company and compiling standard specifications for each process and monitoring all existing production to standard specifications.
* Ensures process optimization using statistical techniques.
* Works with the Production Group leaders (PGL's) in troubleshooting processing problems.
* Establishes relationships with the customers and Equipment/ Raw Material suppliers in pursuit of continuous improvement and on-going business development.
* Solves, in conjunction with the Quality department, customer related problems/issues as needed.
* Instructs others, formally or informally, regarding manufacturing related skills or knowledge and assist in the training of employees on new processes or systems introduced to the company.
* Coordinate the development of documentation in the Production and Technical areas in line with ISO: and ISO requirements and review the systems with the Group Leaders and the Quality department on a regular basis to ensure conformance to same.
* Communicate on a regular basis (or as appropriate) with external suppliers of materials and equipment and provide regular feedback on any issues to the management team.
Requirements:
1. National Diploma in Engineering (Preferably a Degree in Plastics Engineering)
2. Min 3 years' experience in the injection moulding industry.
3. Must have a very good knowledge of Injection mould tooling and design.
4. Must have a very good knowledge of Injection Moulding (standard process and Multi component), Processing, Ancillary equipment and automation systems.
5. Preferably worked in either the Medical, Packaging or technological industries.
6. Preferably have some knowledge of Real time monitoring systems.
7. Must have an in-depth knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of experiments (DOE) and demonstrate use of same.
8. Should have a good knowledge of the principles of WCM, JIT, SMED, and Kaizen.
9. Must have knowledge in computer systems; integrated manufacturing systems; word processing and spreadsheets. (Also, knowledge of MFG Pro would be a distinct advantage).
10. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to accurately document work performed.
11. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
12. Must be able to travel as required by the position.
