Job Title: Senior Livestock Research Specialist
Project Overview
The research fellow will assist in conducting studies on ruminant livestock production and enteric methane emissions. The focus is on investigating the impact of different sward types on beef cattle performance and environmental sustainability.
This study aims to quantify the effects of diverse swards on enteric methane emissions, including the development of emission factors for grazing beef cattle. Responsibilities include animal husbandry, measurement and analysis of methane emissions data, and management of beef production systems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct animal husbandry activities, including handling and care of livestock.
* Measure and analyze enteric methane emissions data from grazing beef cattle.
* Manage and maintain beef production systems, including pasture management and farm operations.
Requirements:
* PhD in a relevant field, such as animal science or agriculture.
* Strong knowledge of ruminant nutrition and animal physiology.
* Experience with experimental design and data analysis.

Additional Information:
The successful candidate will be based at UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science. This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week.
