Job Purpose
Support the EHS Manager in driving and delivering all aspects of Environmental, Health, and Safety across the site.
Lead the day-to-day management of EHS operations, ensuring compliance with legislation, fostering a proactive safety culture, and supporting continuous improvement to protect people, property, and the environment

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to:
Lead the day-to-day operations of the EHS department, including direct oversight in the absence of the EHS Manager
Regularly review and update risk assessments, safe operating procedures, work instructions, and the site's safety statement
Monitor and analyse incident reports and safety metrics; ensure daily performance statistics are compiled and presented to the operations team
Oversee the prompt investigation and documentation of accidents, incidents, and near misses.
Support managers in developing and implementing corrective actions
Manage the internal audit program; conduct safety inspections, generate reports, and coordinate with department representatives to ensure timely close-out of findings
Proactively identify opportunities for safety performance improvement and support the development of site-wide EHS initiatives in collaboration with the EHS Manager
Support preparation and readiness for external regulatory and compliance audits
Coordinate safety-related training, ensuring all mandatory and ongoing training needs are met on schedule.
Maintain and update the training matrix
Create and deliver EHS communications, including toolbox talks and safety alerts, to reinforce a strong safety culture across the site
Manage site emergency preparedness programs, including fire safety, chemical safety, and workplace vehicle protocols
Oversee contractor safety management in partnership with the engineering department; deliver contractor training, review documentation, and conduct audits of contractor activities
Skills / Qualifications / Experience
Level 8 qualification in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
1–3 years' experience in a manufacturing or high-risk environment desirable
Manual Handling Instructor certification
Train the Trainer qualification
Occupational First Aid certification
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain safety procedures across all levels of the organisation
High attention to detail, with excellent administrative, reporting, and literacy skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS-related software platforms
Self-motivated, capable of working independently and as part of a cross-functional team
Professional confidence to engage with department managers and enforce compliance when necessary

Some travel will be required.
