Excel Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading, well-established hospital in Cork to recruit an experienced Senior Radiation Therapist / Senior Therapy Radiographer to join their expanding Radiation Oncology Department on a permanent, full-time basis.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a CORU-registered Senior Radiation Therapist who is passionate about patient-centred care, clinical excellence, and leadership within Radiotherapy.
The Role – Senior Radiation Therapist
As a Senior Radiation Therapist, you will play a key role within the multidisciplinary Radiation Oncology team, delivering high-quality radiotherapy treatments to patients with cancer and selected benign conditions. You will provide expert clinical care while supporting, mentoring, and guiding junior Radiotherapy staff.
This role offers an excellent balance of hands‑on clinical work, leadership responsibility, and professional development in a modern Radiotherapy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver safe, accurate, and high-quality radiation therapy treatments in line with prescribed treatment plans and departmental protocols
Justify and evaluate pre‑treatment imaging and ensure precise treatment delivery
Provide compassionate psychosocial support to patients throughout their treatment journey
Perform CT simulations and clinical mark‑ups as requested by the Radiation Oncologist
Administer oral and IV contrast agents (where competency is held)
Accurately record and maintain patient data within the ARIA system
Identify and report any treatment deviations to the Physics team promptly
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to support coordinated patient care
Supervise, mentor, and train junior Radiotherapy staff, ensuring competency and professional development
Support the implementation of new technologies, procedures, and service improvements
Maintain compliance with all radiation safety regulations and quality standards
Actively engage in continuous professional development (CPD) in line with CORU requirements
To be considered for this Senior Radiation Therapist job in Cork, you must have:
A recognised qualification in Radiation Therapy
Current CORU registration
A minimum of 2 years’ post‑qualification experience as a Radiation Therapist
Proven leadership and supervisory experience within a Radiotherapy setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in quality assurance, clinical audit, and service development
Excellent organisational, time‑management, and attention‑to‑detail skills
A strong commitment to patient‑centred care and professional excellence
