The Used & STR Asset Director will take ownership of the Used Truck and Short-Term Rental operations within the region, ensuring sustainable growth, profitability, and alignment with the company's overall business strategy. The role requires active collaboration with colleagues across business streams, regional teams, and Head Office to ensure targets for the UK & Ireland region are consistently achieved.
Our client is a leading player in the commercial vehicle and rental sector, operating across the UK and Ireland. Renowned for their innovation, operational excellence, and high standards of customer service, they are seeking a seasoned leader to oversee their Used Truck and Short-Term Rental business streams, driving strategic growth and operational performance.
Responsibilities
* Lead and expand the Short-Term Rental business by analyzing market trends, optimizing the sales pipeline, managing sales team activity (leading and lagging KPIs), and achieving annual unit and revenue objectives.
* Deliver accurate, timely forecasts to the Regional Management Team and Head Office.
* Work closely with the Sales Director and New/Used Truck Sales team to drive end-user Used Truck sales across Territory and Key Accounts.
* Collaborate with the Financial Controller to set budgetary targets, implement financial controls, and monitor performance.
* Lead quarterly and monthly regional End-of-Contract (EoC) Renewal meetings, ensuring compliance with company processes.
* Oversee regional stock levels and storage capacity, ensuring "Ready to Go" targets for STR and End-User UT are consistently met.
* Participate in the Leadership Team, working with all regional Used & STR Asset Managers and Head Office to manage the national fleet, including additions, disposals, utilization, stock availability, peak planning, condition reporting, and age profile.
* Monitor departmental performance, recommending and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
* Exercise commercial judgment in managing third-party suppliers, including cross-hire arrangements.
* Champion Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards across the business stream.
* Foster a professional, supportive, and high-performance environment focused on continuous improvement and excellent customer service.
* Manage, mentor, and develop team members, ensuring appraisals, training, and development needs are met.
* Lead and contribute to asset, rental, and other annual improvement initiatives.

* Demonstrated leadership experience in asset management, truck sales, or rental operations.
* Strong commercial acumen and proven track record of driving profitable growth.
* Experience managing teams, budgets, and operational performance.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels of the business.
* Strategic thinker with a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving and operational management.
* Strong understanding of HSE principles with a commitment to fostering a safe work environment.
